Qi Baishi (1 January 1864 – 16 September 1957) was a Chinese painter, noted for the whimsical, often playful style of his works. My teacher Henry Li introduced me to his art and often uses Qi Baishi's landscape paintings as a source of inspiration for teaching.
I have found that Qi Baishi's art to be full of life, movement and " Qi" or consciousness. I enjoy copying his paintings in order to learn new brush strokes and artistic techniques. Here are a few of the landscape paintings I completed based on Qi Baishi's works and Henry Li's guidance.
